MEXICO TO CANADA BIKE RIDE
This Sunday (30th May), my mate Derek and I set of for the bike ride of a life time. Over five weeks (of riding) we will ride from the Mexican border at Nogales to West Glacier in Canada. The route will take in many well known sites, including the Grand Canyon and Yellow Stone Park, and will cover over 2740miles rising to nearly 12000ft as we ride north through the Rockie Mountain range (Continental Divide).
The first three weeks of riding will be unsupported so Derek and I will be lugging our kit with us in panniers and staying in B&B style hotels. Our wives, Rhonda and Lesley will then join us at Denver where we will pick up a 27' RV (Recreational Vehicle) providing support and accommodation for the next two weeks. Rhonda and I will then drop Derek and Lesley off at Spokane airport for then to commence their return trip to the UK. Rhonda and I will then stay for a further week to take a relaxed drive back to Denver to return the RV before returning home on 17th July.
Many of you will know that I recently lost my mum to pulmonary embolisms and thought it would be a nice idea to devote this ride to her memory and to use the opportunity to raise money for our chosen charity; The British Lung Foundation. Donations can be given directly through the 'JustGiving' website www.justgiving.com/Mexico-to-Canada-bike-ride Many thanks to those that have donated so generously already.
We will not have Internet access with us but hope to update this Blog as often as we can so, if you are interested, you can follow our progress. Watch this space!!!
